Now not many people know this but Sean Hannity of Fox fame was one of the first people to blast Barack Obama for the comments of Jeremiah Wright particularly his remarks regarding September 11th and the now infamous quote “America’s chickens have come home to roost”. Now rewind to last year, when Christopher Hitchens author of the book God is Not Great appeared on Hannity & Colmes and Hitchens brought up the remarks Rev. Jerry Falwell (remember him? That religious guy who died last year) made about September 11th,
I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way — all of them who have tried to secularize America — I point the finger in their face and say “you helped this happen”.
Basically, Rev. Falwell believes that 911 occurred because of gays, while Rev. Wright believes 911 happened because of America’s foreign policy (a position also held by Republican Presidential nominee Ron Paul). Now since Hannity has been blasting Obama for Wright’s so-called (by him) “anti-American” comments don’t you think Hannity would have the same kind of response when Hitchens brings up Falwell’s 911 comments? Yeah? No he doesn’t, he in fact, defends Falwell’s comments by saying, “Haven’t you made any mistakes in your life? Are you perfect?” And later Hannity tries to make the argument that because Falwell gave his life to the good of teaching God’s word, his comments on 911 shouldn’t be taken as the entire sum of his character. Astounding? I know.
