Rick Ross’ most promising signee Meek Mill has announced he will be partnering with Mark Ecko Clothing to create his own line called “Dream Chasers” aptly named after his first mixtape with Maybach Music Group. People may remember Ecko for having similar partnerships with other rappers most notably 50 Cent for his G-Unit line, which has since seized in production and Eminem’s Shady Clothing.
It is interesting that Ecko would partner with Meek Mill as he is a more street oriented rapper and “thug wear” hasn’t be in-style since I don’t know 2006. Perhaps Ecko sees this as a counter-trend or maybe Meek Mill is hoping to brand himself as more than just a “thug rapper” and as a legitimate fashion connoisseur. Though judging by his comments when asked if he’s had any prior experience designing, he laughed it off saying “I look at it and say if I like it or not”. Okay sure that’s fine, but hopefully Meek Mill’s fashion inspiration doesn’t draw from the State Property tradition.
Below: Meek Mill at the Ecko offices discussing his new clothing line, Rick Ross’ health condition and the status of the “I’m a Boss” remix which will feature T.I. and Lil Wayne.
