Meek Mill Actually Did Rap About Rape

Meek Mill was called out recently by Pastor Jomo Johnson who argued for pulling Meek’s “Amen” from the radio. The pastor argued that Meek’s music promotes rape, violence and all the things church boys are against.

Meek had a chance to respond to the pastor on Q Deezy‘s radio show on Philadelphia’s Hot 107.9. The two got into a pretty heated exchange with the pastor bringing up the same moot arguments from the 90’s, and Meek retorted by bringing up his charitable contributions to Philly, namely a winter coat drive.

At one point it seemed both were just going tit-for-tat on who does more for the ‘hood as if its Meek’s job to give back. Meek even brings up the fact that more religious leaders have raped children as opposed to rappers.

More interestingly though was Meek’s admittance on radio that he doesn’t believe in God. In the black community it is usually frowned upon to be an atheist, especially publicly, so kudos to Meek for expressing his views.

Meek “I don’t believe in none of that stuff you talking bout, I don’t even believe in God.”

Pastor “He just mentioned he doesn’t believe in God.”

You can listen to the “discussion” below.

During the interview, the pastor asked the audience to google “Meek Mill” and “rape” as proof that Meek promotes raping women. Meek argued that he has no lyrics about rape. However, I did a search and found this song by Noreaga featuring Pusha T and Meek Mill. Meek’s verse starts at 5:56.

Here’s Meek Mill’s verse.

If I ever go broke, I’mma take yo money
Have my nigga snatch yo bitch and rape yo honey
Goonie shoot up yo wheel you need May Gold money
Papi said he got that work just bring them Pesos for me (the money)
As a youngin’ I used to be the lookout
Now we in the kitchen with pigeons having a cookout
Niggas gettin’ took in, niggas gettin’ took out
Used to drive Chargers now they foreign when I pullout
Maserati, Panamera’s, big Ghost’s
Team of killers, long clips, big toasters
Fuck around they buck you down, get chauffeured
Nice casket talking past’s, big hearses, ha!

I hate to be the “rap police” here, and I don’t think it even matters if he raps about rape, it’s not like any sane person heard that line and said, “I’m going to go rape women”. But it is interesting that rapper’s can have a cognitive dissonance when it comes to their lyrics and what they live in real life. I do know this is entertainment and it would be incredibly boring if Meek made songs about going to church with his grandma.
