This whole business about Lupe forgetting the words to his tribute performance of a A Tribe Called Quest’s “Electric Relaxation” has been way over blown. Every hiphop site and blog (ahem* Miss Info…I still love you) has been blowing up homies spot for the last few days like there’s nothing else to report (there isn’t though). Let the guy just damn well be, he forgot two lines, so be it. He said he never listed to Tribe, so be it. When he dropped his album was there this much banter about Lupe? No. Should there have been? Yes, his album is the most lyrical album ever made. WTF. Yes, I just said it. Go find the original version that was supposed to come out and tell me that shit didn’t blow your mind. Just listen to “The Cool“. He’s rapping as if he’s a dead gangster brought back to life. This guys is like the next level of Nas. Forget Tribe, they old news.
