Ex-Factor Recap: He Likes Boys

I can’t say I’m disappointed with tonight’s Ex-Factor, other than L.A. Reid not choosing Phillip Lomax (the guy that does the killer Sinatra impression). I will say that tonight’s episode showcased the power of raw talent, particularly in the girls category. It’s pretty obvious from the get go, Simon had something for Simone Battle and Tiah Toliver, likely because they had the right look(which I talked about it my last recap).

He also seemed to have something against Melanie Amaro, which in the last episode caused him to eliminate her but due to public outcry, he vetoed his decision and brought her back. If anything speaks to an audience it’s the power of raw talent and being the underdog and tonight while Simon made up his mind about who was going to continue on, the people chanted “Melanie”. It was definitively a tense moment. Fortunately for Melanie and us, Simon made the right choice by sending home his favorites Simone and Tiah and chose someone that could actually sing.

Another small footnote to add is Simone Battle, who instead of thanking the judges and being grateful for the opportunity, decided to promote her video “He Likes Boys” which is dropping today. While the song does have elements of a Katy Perry hit, the vocal performance is not really doing it for me, but I’ll that leave it up to you to judge.

Below: Simone Battle’s music video for “He Likes Boys”.
