Kanye West Vs 50 Cent. This is the most exciting story in hip-hop history right now and perhaps the biggest thing in music as a whole. Never would you see two multi-platinum artist go head to head releasing albums on the same day. Why? Because their labels wouldn’t allow it. This time things are different, things have become so stale in the music industry that you have to leave it to the hiphop acts to turn the heat up to get buyers interested again. I don’t think we would ever see a Justin Timberlake vs a Robin Thicke showdown. Nope folks, this can only be made possible by the competitive nature found in rap music.
And there’s nothing wrong with that. My only worry was that this would turn into a Black Face show and would only bamboozle Kanye and Fifty. But nope, these two are not only great artist but they are savvy businessmen. Case in point, have you seen the cover of Rolling Stone magazine? Yes, Rolling Stone magazine, this isn’t your XXL or Source, this is straight mainstream pop baby!
Obviously, this isn’t your East Coast vs. West Coast beef, where rappers get shot up (RIP BIG, RIP PAC). Nope, this is an all out marketing war to save music. Yes that’s right, sales in the music industry have been in such a downward spiral that this is what it comes down too. It is no longer about who’s song is better (which is what music is really about) it is about who can produce the most hype for their album thereby generating the most sales. Don’t get me wrong, YoRapper loves hype. But let’s get back to the music. Check out the track by track review of Kanye West’s Graduation and 50 Cent’s Curtis.
PS. Kanye Wins.
